Mervi Tervaniemi relies on her intuition
Technical skills and the ideas coming from the depth of her soul are the most striking features in Mervi Tervaniemi's art. No matter what the themes are: cats, horses, dragons or any other representative objects, her paintings are full of life and energy. This is true concerning her abstract art as well. You cannot help admiring the colors and forms in Tervaniemi's works wherever you see her art: in her atelier in Helsinki, on the Web sites of hers www.taide.iloinen.net/mst/ or in galleries where her art has recently been exhibited to a greater extent. A bold touch of a brush or a palette knife can be traced in any of her art works.Tervaniemi really concentrates on whatever she is doing both technicaqlly and in an inner sense. Have the Lappish environments of Mervi Tervaniemi's childhood and youth in Inari and Rovaniemi surrounded by the wild nature and the Helsinki years of her adult age something in common as the sources of her inspiration? You never know. But it seems to me that her art is happily influenced by the movements of the Northern lights above the seemingly changing ranges of the fells, the brilliance of the Lappish ruska and the fervent rhythm of the atmosphere in Helsinki. Mervi Tervaniemi completed her three years' art studies in Alfa Art Institute in Helsinki 2006. In fact, her interest in art dates back to a lot of earlier time than the beginning of June 2003, when she initiated her studies to become a professional artist.
